As I prepare for my upcoming "Wizard of Oz" themed exhibit at Atown Center on September 6th, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and share some thoughts with you. First, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the incredible people I’ve met at last month’s First Friday event, the Intuitive Watercolor classes, and The Anderson Gas Light Festival. Your support and energy continue to inspire me and fuel my creative journey.

This exhibit is particularly special to me. The "Wizard of Oz" has always been more than just a story; it’s a symbol of how our consciousness is stitched together through time, experiences, and the influences of others. As an intuitive artist, my work evolves organically from start to finish, and this exhibit is no exception. I never know what the final product will be when I start a piece, but the journey of creation often reveals more than I could have ever planned.
The inspiration for this exhibit actually came from a painting I completed right after finishing my Beatrix Potter piece. This new work was a challenge, not just because I physically stitched the paper with thread, but because it was an abstract piece without a defined form. There was no image to shade or bring into impressionist clarity—it was all about letting the shapes and colors speak to me, allowing the painting to evolve in its own time.

This may have been one of the most healing and difficult pieces I’ve ever created. When it was finally complete and framed, I stood back and cried, releasing something deep within that I couldn’t quite define. It was a moment in time that will forever stand out in my memory. The piece may not resonate with everyone, but for me, it is perfect. As artists, we often feel the urge to tweak and adjust our work endlessly, but with this piece, I know it is exactly as it should be.
After completing that painting, the concept for Dorothy in my "Wizard of Oz" exhibit began to take shape. During meditation, I wrote the following passage, which has become central to the exhibit’s theme:
"The pieces of consciousness are stitched together like a scarecrow. We are bits of our existence, and the influence of others in our reality contributes to our conscious being. Our reality is a fine tapestry of experiences woven together with our intellect to bring into the collective a new consciousness that exists in the now moment. As we are constantly being propelled to expand and explore new moments, this exhibit is the stitched-together pieces of my existence into a colorful expression of where I have come from and where I hope to go. This little moment is the in-between. You are in the Now Moment. Take this in. Experience every sense in this frame of time, the color, texture, and form—that is the experience of the Now."
This exhibit is a reflection of my journey, a colorful expression of my past, present, and hopes for the future. I invite you to join me at Atown Center on September 6th from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. Explore the Consciousness through art and experience this moment with me. Take in the colors, textures, and forms, and allow yourself to be fully present in the Now.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. I look forward to sharing this experience with you.
