The Frida exhibit pays homage to the indelible legacy of Frida Kahlo, reflecting her influence on Mexican folk art, spirituality, and feminist ideals. Through this vibrant and evocative display, the exhibit explores themes of resilience, identity, and cultural pride, blending handmade elements with rich symbolism.

Highlights include a sculpted and hand-painted sugar skull, a crocheted heart purse representing Kahlo’s iconic El Corazón, and an armadillo spirit guide crafted in the traditional piñata style. The centerpiece—a skeleton sculpture adorned with paper flowers made from hand-painted coffee filters—captures the festive yet poignant spirit of the Day of the Dead.

The exhibit also features a pencil sketch of Frida on an ofrenda, honoring her profound impact on the artist and others who find inspiration in her story. Each element is crafted with care, celebrating the rich traditions of Southwestern and Mexican culture while emphasizing Kahlo’s pioneering role in the feminist movement.

The Frida exhibit debuted at Atown Center, captivating audiences with its intricate details and heartfelt storytelling. It stands as a testament to the enduring power of art to connect communities, honor heritage, and inspire change.
