A Tale of Two Cities: A Timeless Reflection of Revolution and Redemption
Project type
sculpture
Date
November2024
Location
Anderson, Indiana
The Tale of Two Cities exhibit brings Charles Dickens’ classic novel to life through immersive storytelling and artistry. Drawing inspiration from the duality of the novel’s themes—love and sacrifice, despair and hope—the exhibit captures the turbulent spirit of the French Revolution while reflecting on timeless human struggles and triumphs.
Key elements include handcrafted costumes and props, meticulously designed to evoke the 18th-century settings of London and Paris. Each piece in the exhibit speaks to the contrasts of the story, from the opulent aristocracy to the grit and resilience of the common people. With its focus on redemption and the enduring power of love, the exhibit invites viewers to reflect on how Dickens’ words still resonate in modern times.
First displayed at the Atown Center, the exhibit later traveled to the Anderson Library, where it continued to capture the imagination of audiences, serving as both an homage to Dickens’ masterpiece and a celebration of the universal themes that unite us all.
